Course Description

Human Trafficking is highly lucrative with relatively low risk, making it one of the most profitable criminal industries in the world. Forced labor along with commercial sexual exploitation generates approximately $150 billion in illegal profits a year. Traffickers and their facilitators target and exploit vulnerable victims by employing a variety of control tactics. Law enforcement need to be able to recognize the signs of human trafficking, acknowledge and utilize the role of technology, and identify and track financial indicators for human trafficking.

Learning Objectives

1. Define human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation.

2. Recognize signs associated with human trafficking.

3. Describe the roles of traffickers, facilitators, and victims

4. Identify at least three financial indicators that could be red flags for human trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation.
